Reiki

What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a form of Japanese energy healing for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It can be complimentary to all other forms of therapy, medical and holistic. Reiki is traditionally administered by "laying on hands" which is a practice that has been used in various healing traditions for thousands of years.

Rei, means spiritual wisdom or universal energy. This can be understood more specifically as the higher areas of consciousness that are beyond ego.

Ki, refers to life force energy. In Chinese it is referred to as Chi, Prana in sanskrit, Ti or Ki in Hawaiian; and in science we know it as the Biofield. Quite simply it is the universal life force energy that circulates through and around all living things. A low or restricted life force increases vulnerability to illness and dis-ease in the body and mind. A high, fluid life force creates health and vitality,  Higher forms of expression, and connectivity of body, mind, spirit.

Reiki Can Never Cause Harm

Reiki has an intelligence of its own. It knows exactly where to go and what to do. The practitioner does not direct the energy, but rather allows the spiritually guided energy to pass through their hands, feet, or breath. Put simply, the practitioners role is to get out of the way, and allow the loving presence of spiritual consciousness to shine through.

How Does Reiki Heal

The force of life energy, or Ki, that flows through us, is what keeps us alive. Consider it as the living thread that connects us to the plants, the trees, the earth, and all living beings. It flows through our bodies through energetic pathways called chakras and meridians, and passes through our cells, tissues, and organs. Likewise, it flows around us in a field of energy known as the aura. It is the Ki that animates our physical bodies, and nourishes our organs, tissues and cells. A free, vital flow of Ki is the cause of well-being. A disrupted flow of Ki is the main cause of illness. Emotions and thoughts directly affect the vitality of the Ki, as they contribute either positive or negative waves. Reiki has the ability to access the emotional body, and it can therefore direct it's high frequency of healing energy to work with built-up negative energy that is blocking fluidity. Negativity is raised up, processed and released, and the body becomes recharged with positive energy. As Reiki raises the vibration in and around the physical body, it dissolves all other energies that do not serve that process. Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energetic pathways, re-calibrating the body to a harmonious state of health. Once healthy Ki is restored to its natural flow, the individual is able to complete their healing process. Having this energetic understanding of the metaphysical cause of illness has been shown to significantly accelerate healing.

What Can Be Treated

Reiki, in all of its gentleness, is powerful. It has a long history of use in helping to heal every known illness. It is always beneficial, and improves the effectiveness of all other types of therapies . A session feels like an amazing radiant glow,  and individuals most often report feeling more clear, lighter, and deeply relaxed.

Reiki Works With Medical Care

Reiki works well with all other kinds of treatment including medical and psychological care. Research findings show that Reiki reduces recovery time from surgery, improves mental attitude, and reduces unwanted side effects of medications. A research study at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut indicates that Reiki improved patient sleep by 86%, reduced pain by 78%, reduced nausea by 80% and reduced anxiety during pregnancy by 94%. Reiki is not bound by time and space, and can be sent from a distance as well as forward and backward in time as needed. Reiki healing energy can be as beneficial from a distance as it is in person.
